9/30 Garden Update
Yesterday I finished adding the Mel’s Mix to my raised bed! That was a lot of effort.
Today I’ve put in a few squares of cool-season crops, because why not?
I’ve planted:
- two squares of radishes
- three squares of lettuce (1 Black-seeded Simpson, 1 Marvel of Four Seasons, 1 mesclun…but it’s possible I double planted Marvel with a second square of Black-seed in a fit of planting inspiration),
- two squares of spinach. The only variety I have is a longstanding Summer Perfection.
I’ve also just mulched the empty squares using some (moldy) alfalfa hay that I have extra.
To consider: I have enough leftover Mel’s Mix ingredients that I could refill and relocate the little plastic raised beds that aren’t doing any good right now. I can do that on a nice day in the winter once the tomatillos have finished.
